FAQ for Lawn Service
This is almost as important to me as it is to you. You can cancel your service at any time for any reason without pressure of any kind from me. If you have paid for the year in advance your money will be returned to you within 2 business days or that same day if you want to come and pick it up from me. Please keep in mind that I have given you a large discount for paying in advance so if you do stop the service, the amount returned to you will be the number of cuts you have received times the normal cut cost (without the discount). This amount plus tax is then deducted from the amount you paid, and the balance is what is returned to you.
As an example: Sales Tax is 6%, your normal cut price before any discounts is $60.00 & you paid $1000.00 for the year plus $60.00 in tax for a total of $1060.00. You used my service 2 times but decided that you would like a refund. Your refund would be $120.00 + $7.20 tax for a total of $127.20. This is for the 2 cuts you have received at full price. I would then deduct the $127.20 from the $1060.00 you paid and your refund would be $932.80
What’s the difference between Edging & Trimming: Read More
Edging is not the same as trimming. Trimming is included in our regular service pricing and about 3 minutes of trimming is allotted to most yards. Trimming is cutting down stray pieces of grass that our mower missed or could not get to.
Edging is cutting a 90 degree edge along the driveway and / or sidewalk to leave a clean and defined cut between your lawn and the driveway, sidewalk or curb.
Edging varies widely and can double or even triple the time spent on a lawn. If maintained the time becomes minimal but if only done when the grass has grown over the concrete or into the asphalt, the extra time can be significant.
Do I have to choose a weekly service? Read More
Weekly service is the most common in our area of Minnesota. There are some yards that if cut Every Other Week (EOW) would be impractical because of the amount of growth and thickness of the grass. These types of yards would take us 2 or 3 times as long because we would have to go over them 2-3 times (or more) just to mulch everything up. Leaving heavy un-mulched grass laying on your lawn would kill the lawn, it would look like a hay field and be tracked all over your home and neighbors yard.
For those yards that are EOW, we cut the grass slower and only cut them once. Whatever is left behind is left behind. If you want extra passes, we can do this for an up-charge.
What is the difference between a basic service & premium? Read More
Basic Service: Can I have an On-Call Service? Read More
We would email you an invoice with the link embedded in the email.
Basic service for a typical yard is a single pass mow along with basic trimming (3-4 minutes) and then blowing stray grass from the sidewalk, driveway and street.
Premium Service:
Premium Service gives up to 3 passes as needed, trimming (3-5 minutes), edging of the sidewalk, driveway and boulevard along with blowing the stray grass from the sidewalk, driveway and street. Important to note, premium service is only available to pre-paid customers that paid for the complete year. This is because initial edging can be very time consuming and could not be made up with a single paid premium service. If edging is not maintained, the cost of intermittent edging could increase your cut price by up to 5X.
Yes, but understand the additional costs involved.
1. Our prices assume we are in the area cutting grass so our travel time is minimized.
A. So if you call in on a Wednesday afternoon and request a cut but we have already left your area or won’t be back for a few days, you would have to wait or pay a travel cost to get it done asap.
2. Our commercial mowers will only cut grass up to 4” with a single pass and get it mulched up enough not to affect your lawn. Anything over 4” would require us to go slower, do multiple passes and significantly increase the trimming time. So if your grass is over 4” (or about ankle height) your price would be significantly more than a normal cut price.
3. All On-Call Services require you to give us a credit card number to use when completed or pay for the service before we cut your grass via this link: https://jessesyardwork.com/pay-your-invoice/

Do you bag and remove grass clippings? Read More
The only time we bag grass clippings would be doing a spring or fall cleanup service. Basic or Premium lawn mowing services do not include bagging of the grass.
Most commercial lawn services in this area do not bag grass. There are a couple but you would have to find them in a Google search.
The reason is, the bagging systems that attach to our mowers are large, bulky and heavy. Not something that can be done in the field. The mowers have to be set up for this before they leave the shop. When the bagging systems are set-up, they limit the number of lawns that we can access due to small gate openings and smaller lawns are very difficult to maneuver around without tearing up yards. The bagging systems also increase the weight of our machines making it much easier to rut up your lawn especially if done on a regular basis.
Do you offer Fertilization / Weed Control? Read More
The only time we Offer a fertilization or weed control service is for customers that have paid for a yearly lawn mowing service up front for the season.
This Is because we use a company called Weedman who does a great job but we add very little to the price they quote us which is typically less than they would quote you. We pass the savings on to you and make very little on the transaction.
If we were to give you just a fertilization quote, it would be significantly more than they would charge you directly.
What is the difference between a “Spring Mounted” De-Thatching and Power Raking / De-Thatching?Read More
Spring mounted de-thatching is recommended no more than once a year and is included in most Spring Cleanup Quotes. We don’t recommend this during the summer season.
Power Raking or Power De-Thathing is not recommended more than once every two or three years. We do this normally in the Spring of the year but not past the end of May when summer temperatures start rising. Power De-Thatching puts a lot of stress on the lawn and is not done in the summer heat or sparce lawns.
Do you offer Hydroseeding Read More
