What is the average cost of a Spring Cleanup?
An average lot of 10,000 square feet with a couple of trees runs $350.00
What is included in a Spring Cleanup?
Mowing the grass with a spring mounted de-thatcher.
Bag and (in most cases) remove grass, thatch, leaves & small twigs.
Blow out rock, mulch and garden beds
Extra services for Spring Cleanups:
Power De-thatching. This type of De-Thatching can only be done in the early spring or late fall as the heat of summer will ruin your lawn if done during the summer months. It is also only recommended no more than every 2 or 3 years.
Core Aeration and/or over-seeding.
Also only recommended early spring or fall to give the seed time to germinate before the heat of the summer or freeze of winter.
Why is it so difficult to find a company to do my spring cleanup after the 1st of May?
This is probably the number 1 question I get after the 1st of May when someone calls to request a quote for spring cleanup. The easiest way to explain this is:
The equipment needed to be added to our mowers (baggers, power blowers, de-thatchers and weights) significantly add to the bulk and weight of our machines limiting the number of mowers I can get on my trailers and limits the number of back yards we can get access to.
With that said, my weekly mowing contracts start the 1st of May and I have to keep them on a regular schedule. I cannot afford to set my mowers up for mowing then change the equipment out to do a spring cleanup and then back to mowing and make this profitable.
This is why it’s best to get your spring cleanup scheduled and done in the month of April. It is a very short window of time so scheduling this in February or March is suggested to ensure it gets done.
